Recent work in November 20102 was with Khazanah Nasional, which literally translated means ‘National Treasury’ of Malaysia. I was supporting the briefing of 40+ facilitators organising the Great Langkawi Race, and leading the final debrief of 90 Khazanah staff doing this highly competitive and fun experiential ‘away day’ on Langkawi Island, Malaysia. The event was a great success. ‘Experience the difference’: explore some new innovative experiential learning methods that really do work to support learning. Spend one or two days with Colin Beard and experience a range of these new approaches in order to understand the key design principles behind experiential learning. Experience first hand: personal profiling, left-right brain issues, understand outsourcing innovation opportunities using a case study from a leading global organisation that Colin worked (as part of a European Innovation Team), consider a range of new techniques for idea creation, understand and practice different thinking patterns (higher order, lateral, divergent) product design, exploring product trends through experiencing real market products (simple linear change within and across products, product merging/multiple function design, industrial ecology), develop a ‘new product’ pitch, understand social-spatial knowledge construction – and innovation destruction!
